Austin Food-Truck Booth & Airstream Podcast Studio
Silencer Shop is an Austin, Texas company. For SHOT Show, they wanted their booth to bring Austin's famous food-truck scene to the show floor.
The booth
We built a gritty, lived-in Austin roadside lot:
A wood deck, with artificial turf that we torch-scorched for authentic wear
A white picket fence
A converted storage shed fitted out as a second meeting space, with a bar, stools, and a table
Spray-painted artwork on the fence and building facade by Gear Duran, one of Las Vegas's best-known muralists
Red picnic tables, pink flamingos, and painted-tire planters, all under an illuminated marquee arrow by Crown Fabrication
The Airstream
The centerpiece was the client's own 2018 Airstream, which I was tasked with transforming into a high-end mobile office and podcast studio. Inside, the client held meetings and recorded interviews with prominent figures from across the firearms industry, including elected officials.
A fully custom selection process: I built material selection boards so the client could choose every detail: flooring tone, furniture finishes, the exact red lining the silencer display cases, and the felt.
Strip-out: with my background in vehicles and trailers, I led the team on what to remove from the trailer and what to keep.
Finishes: light-birch hardwood flooring, custom millwork, and display cases, all built and installed by our in-house production team, with red and brown leather upholstery by Tapestria Upholstery.
Podcast studio: I guided the client's equipment selection and designed clean cable routing for a broadcast-ready setup.
Getting a trailer onto the show floor
I coordinated with GES, the show's general contractor, ahead of time on the trailer's dimensions, the move-in schedule, and power requirements for both the trailer and the booth. Bringing a full-size trailer into a crowded hall means clearing crates and working around other exhibitors, but move-in and move-out went smoothly, and the install ran clean.
The result
An original, one-of-a-kind booth that stood out on a crowded show floor, and an Airstream studio the client was thrilled with. Silencer Shop used it for meetings and interviews with industry leaders throughout the show.
